Every week or so, we feature one of the many talented “Arts Center Kids!”

1-6573bwThis week, we are featuring one of our extremely talented  Academy kids, Wolfe Lanier.  Wolfe is entering his third year in the Academy and has performed in many of the Asheville Arts Center’s shows, including Wizard of Oz, High School Musical, Beauty and the Beast, Guys & Dolls, Peter Pan, 101 Dalmations, Suessical The Musical & most recently, Alice in Wonderland, Jr. as a very funky Caterpillar.  While performing in this latest show, Wolfe also auditioned for Peter Pan at Asheville Community Theatre, which he landed a role in.  He is very excited to be part of this cast for two reasons – it’s his first show outside of the Arts Center and he was chosen for the cast out of over 150 people who auditioned!

Wolfe’s parents run the Willow’s Dream Full Service Salon & Unique Gift Boutique, right down the street from the Asheville Arts Center.  Their story, as described on their website:

“About six years a go the Lanier family decided that they wanted a better place to raise their kids and a less chaotic life. Marcy Lanier, a hairstylist of twenty years, had always dreamed of opening her own salon in combination with a magical, eclectic gift shop.

Willow’s Dream is truly a family adventure. Cheri, Marcy’s older sister, is a favorite artist among our customers. We can’t seem keep her pottery on the walls! As well as coming up with unique art for our store, Robyn created the gorgeous Willow’s Dream logo. She is our creative graphic designer. Robyn is the creator and entrepreneur of a line of babywear if you’d like to visit her she can be found at: http://www.hellobabywear.com. It’s been a joy to carry their art and watch our customers love it as well.”

Watching our students grow artistically is one of the greatest joys of our work at the Asheville Arts Center, and Wolfe is a great example of what we hope for in every student!
