Heidi Kulas, Dance Instructor at the Asheville Arts Center

Originally, from Greenville, Michigan, Heidi moved to Annapolis, Maryland where she was a full time member of the internationally renowned touring company, Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble as principle dancer, choreographer, percussive dance instructor, arts in education director and the junior company director. She has been a guest dancer for many artists including Nickel Creek, Uncle Earl, Lunasa, Tim O’Brien and Stuart Duncan, the Duhks and Eileen Ivers and has performed at the Kennedy Center and the Smithsonian Institute as well as many international music festivals from Canada, to Europe to Finland. After extensively touring for seven years, she furthered her education with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts from Mars Hill College, where she was team Captain for the 14 time National Champion Bailey Mountain Cloggers. Heidi is also a member of the All American Clogging Team. Her choreography has been seen in several touring productions including Footworks’ Incredible Feets, The Crossing with Tim O’Brien, Solemates with Step Afrika!, Mountain Legacy, in several Bailey Mountain Clogger productions and in many Mars Hill College Theatre Arts Department shows as well as choreographer for Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre’s past two seasons.
