Starting today, I will be highlighting a few of our students every month through the blog & newsletter!  If you’d like your child highlighted, send me an email and I will put them on the list!  (michael@ashevilleartscenter.com)

This week, I’d like to introduce you to Aislin.   She holds the distinction of being one of our very first students, when the Arts Center began in 2004.  She is a prime example of the potential of each child who spends time here – she is considered a “triple-threat” with training in music, drama & dance, and she is only now entering the third grade!

Aislin9108-1Since 2004, Aislin has been in 11 theatrical productions, 3 ballet performances and 1 Irish Dance production.   She is currently rehearsing Alice in Wonderland, Jr. (our 2 week camp) which performs on July 17th.  Once she wraps that show up, she goes directly into the role of Tinkerbell for Asheville Community Theatre’s production of “Peter Pan.”

Other favorite roles include: Pepper in Annie, Gretel in The Sound of Music, Little Red Riding Hood in Sleeping Beauty, a Jitterbug in The Wizard of Oz, and Fudge in Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.  She is currently a member of the Gallagher School of Irish Dance, The Asheville Arts Center Dance Company and will join the AAC Jr. Acting Company in the Fall.

Aislin spends a good deal of time at the Arts Center, not only because of her extensive involvement, but also because her mother, Eliza Harris, is the front desk coordinator, otherwise known to the community as the face of the Arts Center.  You’re sure to speak with her first when you wander in or call us!  Aislin’s father is Bill Thompson, who owns the Satellite Gallery downtown.

So that’s Aislin!  As our motto goes, Everyone is a Star!

Congratulations, by the way, to the cast of Peter Pan!
